Recipes

Not all recipes are for enjoying your food some of the recipes will be using herbs or spices to enhance personal care/hygine or utilizing them for oils or hot packs for topical use. 

Remineralizing toothpaste: 
          3 tablespoons bentonite clay
          2 tablespoons coconut oil (solid)
          1 tablespoon sodium bicarbonate
          1 tablespoon allspice powder
           Pinch of celtic sea salt
          optional use 5 drops of Thieves essential oil from Young Living or On-Guard from DoTerra, or Defender from Simply Earth 
          Whisk everything together (if it is too dry you can add a little more coconut oil and whisk some more) 
          Place in a glass jar and enjoy all the benefits of this toothpaste and all of the health benefits of Allspice which include: antibacterial,
          antioxidant, antifungal and anti-inflammatory.

 

Sumac Rosted Sweet Potatoes:
          2 large sweet potatoes
          3 tablespoons olive oil
          2 tablespoons honey plus enough for garnish
          2 teaspoons sumac powder
          1 1/2  teaspoons sea salt
          1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
          1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (ceylon cinnamon!)
          1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and line a rimmed backing sheet with parchment paper
Wash the sweet potatoes, leaving on the skin
Cut the sweet potatoes into thin wedges and place them ina large bowl
In a small bowl whsk together the oil, honey, sumac, salt, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and black pepper
Pour the mixture over the sweet potatoes and gently stir until the are coated
Spread the wedges  evenly on the baking sheet
Roast the sweet potatoes  for 20-30 minutes turning them once to ensure even browning
Serve potatoes warm with a drizzle of honey

Spicy Chicken:
          2 tablespoons lemon juice
          1 tablespoon olive oil
          6 cloves of garlic
          3 rosemary sprigs (plus extra for garnish)
          2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
          1/2 teaspoon horseradish grated
          1 teaspoon smoked paprika
          1/4 teaspoon sea salt
          1/8 teaspoon black pepper
           4 medium chicken breasts

In a small bowl mix the lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, rosemary, oregano, horserashich, paprika, salt, and pepper, 
Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish, pour the marinade over the top, and let them marinate in the refrigerator for two hours
Preheat the oven the 375
Arrange the chicken breasts on the baking sheet 
Bake for 15 minutes, then turn the chicken breasts over and bake them for an additional 15 minutes
Turn once more and bake for a final 5 minutes until the chicken reaches a tempurature of 165 degrees
Garnish with rosemary
